Exposició de llibres en miniatura a Nova York Ahir es va inaugurar a Nova York una exposició sobre llibres miniatura: Miniature Books: 4,000 Years of Tiny Treasures The hundreds of examples on view in Miniature Books: 4,000 Years of Tiny Treasures — none taller than three inches — range in date from a Babylonian tablet of ca. 2000 BC, to tiny artists’ books of the present day. Engaging, artful, and sometimes eccentric, miniature books are also captivating examples of the bookmaker’s craft: gilt, bejeweled, painted, tooled, illuminated, and illustrated by the likes of Picasso, Miro, and Edward Gorey.  Some notable selections include:   A 40-volume set of Shakespeare's works, two inches high and easily readable. John F. Kennedy's inaugural address in miniature. The first book on contraception, originally published as a miniature, and responsible for a 19th century decline in the British birthrate. The Emancipation Proclamation of Abraham Lincoln, first printed in book form as a miniature. A minature book that flew to the moon and returned. A book from President Franklin D. Roosevelt's substantial miniature book collection. The world's two smallest books, each less than one millimeter tall. Diseñar la expansión de su ideario más allá de la informática, partiendo de un nuevo concepto: el conocimiento libre. Es la vieja broma de la comunidad linuxera, "el plan para la dominación del mundo", que casi sin querer empieza a ir en serio. (...) Propuso dos ideas para remunerar a los autores libres: "Reemplazar el canon por un impuesto o bien pagos voluntarios: que el reproductor de música tenga un botón y, al presionarlo, se envíe dinero al grupo". Els usuaris de Firefox acostumen a fer servir ordinadors amb totes les actualitzacions de seguretat [SecurityFix] Firefox Surfers More Likely Patched Than IE Users. Els usuaris que fan servir Firefox és força probable que hagin aplicat els últims pegats de seguretat que no pas els de l'Internet Explorer. New statistics released today indicate that people who use Mozilla's Firefox Web browser are more likely to be cruising the Web with all of the latest security updates installed than those surfing with Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Internet Security vendor Secunia came to that conclusion by analyzing the results of some 4.9 million programs scanned by its "software inspector" -- a free tool which can scan your PC for missing security updates for about 30 of the most commonly installed desktop applications. Secunia found that 1.4 million of those applications were lacking in critical security patches released by their respective vendors.
