[El Faristol] Google signa un acord amb biblioteques catalanes per digitalitzar part del seu fons. Google i la Biblioteca de Catalunya han signat un acord de col·laboració per tal d'incloure dins de Google Books llibres del fons de cinc de les principales biblioteques catalanes: biblioteca del monestir de Montserrat, biblioteca pública episcopal del seminari de Barcelona, biblioteca del centre excursionista de Catalunya, la biblioteca de l'Ateneu Barcelonès i la Biblioteca de Catalunya. Ells libres que es digitalitzaran són aquells que han passat al domini públic i que podrien representar un fons d'uns 300.000 volums.

It’s funny that the iPhone should so clearly have helped me to better recognize the terrific accomplishments that Palm has delivered with our Treo. It may not be immediately perceived to be quite as “cool" as an iPhone but the fact is that the Treo clearly deserves the praise and success that it has already achieved.
I have no doubt that the iPhone will be an extremely successful device in its own right - one which will continue to help grow the smartphone space with an even younger generation - but for now at least I certainly don’t believe that it will be a Treo-killer.

In the information age, as we have become increasingly dependent upon complex information systems, there has been a focus on the vulnerability of these systems to computer crime and security attacks, exemplified by the work of the President’s Commission on Critical Infrastructure Protection. Because of the high-tech nature of these systems and the technological expertise required to develop and maintain them, it is not surprising that overwhelming attention has been devoted by experts to technological vulnerabilities and solutions.
Yet, as captured in the title of a 1993 conference sponsored by the Defense Personnel Security Research Center, Computer Crime: A Peopleware Problem, it is people who designed the systems, people who attack the systems, and understanding the psychology of information systems criminals is crucial to protecting those systems

[iDefense] Microsoft Excel Long Palette Heap Overflow Vulnerability. És ben evident que, durant aquest 2007, les aplicacions d'ofimàtica en general i de Microsoft Office en particular, seran una de les principals víctiemes de les vulnerabilitats de seguretat.
Remote exploitation of an heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in Microsoft Corp.'s Excel spreadsheet application format could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code in the context of the user who started Excel.
The vulnerability specifically exists in the handling of the PALETTE record in BIFF8 format spreadsheet files. By supplying a record with too many entries, an exploitable buffer overflow condition can occur.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability would allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code in the context of the user who opened the document. In order exploit this vulnerability, an attacker would need to convince the target to open an Excel spreadsheet file. Likely attack vectors include sending the file as an attachment in an email or linking to the file on a website.
