[SecuriTeam] OpenOffice issued a WMF code execution fix. Publicada una actualització de seguretat per a l'OpenOffice.org 1.1.x i 2.x que elimina la vulnerabilitat de desbordament de memòria en accedir a una imatge WMF especialment modificada. Aquesta vulnerabilitat pot ser utilitzada per a l'execució de codi malèvol en el moment d'obrir el document que inclou la imatge.

Microsoft ha publicat una eina, gratuïta per a ús no comercial, anomenada Microsoft Robotics Studio per al desenvolupament de robots. Incorpora un entorn visual de programació, utilitzant un llenguatge pensat per a ser utilitzat per a no-programadors, un simulador 3D que simula les aplicacions programades i un runtime per a l'execució de les aplicacions i la comunicació amb el hardware.
Per tal de veure les possibilitats d'aquest sistema, podeu mirar els 30 tutorials publicats.
The goal of the Microsoft Robotics Studio is to supply a software platform for the robotics community that can be used across a wide variety of hardware, applicable to a wide audience of users, and development of a wide variety of applications. As a platform, our intent is also to enable third parties to supply support for new hardware, technologies, and tools, just as Microsoft Windows provides a platform for others to bring their products and technologies to the community of PC users. So while we may populate our platform with some of our own contributions, those should not be considered exclusive to tools or libraries provided by other parties looking to provide interesting technologies for this platform.
The Microsoft Robotics Studio delivers three areas of software:
- A scalable, extensible runtime architecture that can span a wide variety of hardware and devices. The programming interface can be used to address robots using 8-bit or 16-bit processors as well as 32-bit systems with multi-core processors and devices from simple touch sensors to laser distance finding devices.
- A set of useful tools that make programming and debugging robot applications scenarios easier. These include a high quality visual simulation environment that uses the Ageia Technologies™ PhysX™ engine.
- A set of useful technology libraries services and samples to help developers get started with writing robot applications.
Our development environment runs on the platforms listed in the section "System Requirements". It can be used to support robots that support these platforms as well as robots that can be remotely controlled from a PC running a supported platform. The remote control can for example be through a serial port, Bluetooth®, RF or Wi-Fi. We provide information that can be used by hardware or software vendors to make their products compatible with our development platform.

Avui he vist la promoció d'una sèrie de documentals que emet el Canal 33 (tant en versió analògica com en TDT) anomenada «Doble joc» que tracta sobre espionatge. En aquesta promoció es veu força d'informàtica i criptografia (fins i tot es veu com expliquen el codi de Cèsar d'una forma ràpida a la pissarra).
Els documentals s'emeten els dimarts a les 22.00. El proper capítol, El talp de Terra Lliure, no té massa relació amb la informàtica, però desvetlla com un espia es va infiltrar a l'organització Terra Lliure.
Sembla que, com a mínim, ja s'ha emès un capítol d'aquesta sèrie, Cisne, l'espia de la revolució del que no trobo cap referència. La web del programa sembla totalment desactualitzada (parla de les emissions de l'any 2004).

[ZDNet] Apple guru combats month of bugs. Un enginyer sènior d'Apple treballarà específicament la solució e les vulnerabilitats publicades al Month of Apple Bugs:
Landon Fuller was an engineer in Apple's BSD Technology Group, and one of the principal architects of the Darwin system: an open-source, Unix-like operating system designed to work as a standalone operating system as well as the core set of components for Mac OS X. He has already offered fixes for the two vulnerabilities published by MOAB so far.

Fuller published a fix on Tuesday for the QuickTime vulnerability which uses Application Enhancer, a piece of software designed to improve how applications behave when running on systems.

Also on Tuesday, Fuller published a fix for a second vulnerability found by MOAB — a format string vulnerability in the open-source VLC media player that MOAB warns could be used by a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code. VLC published its fix soon after the vulnerability was reported to them by Kevin Finisterre.
